This is going to be a picture-less post. I hit the ground running on January 11th and haven't stopped since. My time management continues to improve so hopefully I'll get to brush the dust off the D90 soon. I miss my camera, I really do.
In case anyone was wondering what I've been up to for the past month, here's a brief recap.
Josh and I officially separated on December 30th. I moved into a townhouse in Mt Pleasant and have 2 roommates, Courtney and Kim. I started school at the College of Charleston and have actually been enjoying school for the first time, EVER. I have been drinking WAY too much coffee, and spending WAY too much money on coffee though, which has got to stop. It's hard not to do when there's a stinkin' Starbucks on every corner of campus. I still work at the preschool from 8:30-12:30 Monday - Friday. The kids are driving us all nuts but I love my time with them and my awesome coworkers. I also work at the coffee shop on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which I also enjoy way more than I should. I like the small-talk, listening to music, dancing around a being silly behind the counter and pulling espresso shots the old-fashioned-way. On Sunday's I also keep score for adult co-ed volleyball at the Isle of Palms Recreation Department. It's a little on the boring side but I don't have to use my brain and I get paid to study when teams don't show up to play.
So no, there isn't a single day when I don't have somewhere to be. It's tiring, but I know that in 3 months school will be out for summer, and in 4 months preschool will be out and I'll be back to doing summer camp at IOP Rec and I'll have plenty of free time to do whatever I want. I need to be busy right now. It's good stress.
Last week I bought a plane ticket to New Orleans. I'm going to visit a friend there for a weekend in March when the college closes for spring break. I've never been to New Orleans and am looking forward to a weekend of sightseeing, eating my face off and listening to New Orleans Jazz-Funk with good friends. (and of course, taking lots of pictures!)
My parents sent me a "care package" a few weeks ago with almonds and dried blueberries and cranberries. Yum. Mom loves Charleston Magazine so I decided to send her one, along with a package of cheesy-garlic grits from Simmon's Seafood and some espresso chocolate chip cookies I made. These were the best cookies EVER by the way. I will definitely be making them again. Dad called me this afternoon to tell me that he just ate the best cookie he'd ever eaten in his life. (Thanks pops :) I'm glad you loved them.) He is also very excited about his grits.
I got my hair cut...and colored on Friday. I said a while ago that I wasn't going to color my hair anymore because it was too expensive and too much of a pain in the ass to maintain. I lied. It looks soooo much better when it's highlighted. I don't know what I was thinking. (I will post a picture soon Denise...I promise.) It looks super hawt. (yes, hawt, not hot, hawt)
I also ordered a pair of skinny corduroys (my first pair!) and a wacky cardigan from my favorite bank-account-emptier, Free People. I love my skinny pants. I'm going to call them my sexy pants, because they are super-sexy. I also ordered a pair of skinny jeans from Anthropologie...my second favorite store to blow my paychecks. (For those of you who want to criticize my money-spending...don't...I haven't bought clothing in 6 months. I was due! AND everything I bought was on sale...so there.)
New life, new routine, new hair, new clothes...I think I'm getting the hang of this! I need to work on my time management a little more, but I think I'm doing pretty well so far. I also need to work on getting more sleep...It's midnight so I'm going to do that now. Goodnight.
