happy weekend

I don't think we could have crammed more fun into this weekend if we tried!  Baby Kauffman was born (see below) and my little bro got married.  Both events took place within 60 miles of one another.  How convenient!  Thanks guys!

This is one happy dude.

Oh, and the colors were spectacular.

Elijah Kenobi Kauffman

Our best friends, Luke and Janell, had their first child on October 22, 2009.  Elijah Kenobi Kauffman, 7lbs 11oz, and perfect in every way.

Yes, his middle name is Kenobi, like Obi Wan Kenobi.  So awesome.  He's a little Jedi master.

Mom!

Dad!

Uncle Josh

Aunt Ashley

They are so goofy.  I love them.

This is what pure happiness looks like.

Luke and Janell, we love you so much.  I know you'll be the best parents anyone could ask for.
Eli, you are one lucky baby.  We love you so much already.

Today is gorgeous.  I love living here.

P.S.  Don't tell the beach patrol I was on the rocks...

macro love

I'm really into the macro function on my 70-300mm lens.  I never thought much of macro shots before but now I'm really digging them.  Check it out.

Mmmmm....coconut cake

self portrait

I spent some time testing out my new yellow/green filter this afternoon.  Unfortunately, the only available person to photograph was me.  All of these were shot inside using a tripod, remote, and a flash bounced from the ceiling.  I think they turned out pretty well.

Making funny faces is therapeutic.  You should really give it a try.

I will also say that color filters may not do much for digital images that photoshop can't.  However, in my opinion, these look way better when converted to black and white than others I've taken without the use of a color contrast filter.  It may be my imagination, but it definitely didn't hurt.

Laura and Michael, October 3 2009

A huge THANK YOU to Laura and Michael for inviting me to photograph their special day.  And another huge THANK YOU to my friend Mallory for making it happen.  I had a blast.  I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.
